Boise just got way cooler. TV’s Adult Swim to host party at Outlaw Field

Adult Swim On the Green is where adults can watch cartoons with other adults. This is very cool. Seriously, Mom.

If your face is still aching from that recent Forbes magazine curb stomp of Boise’s ranking among best cities for young professionals, chin up, Idaho. We’re still awesome.

Here’s proof: TV’s Adult Swim thinks we’re cool enough to visit.

The Adult Swim On the Green tour will take over Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden on Monday, June 26. If you’re a fan of Adult Swim programming such as “Robot Chicken,” “The Eric Andre Show” and “Rick and Morty” (possibly the greatest sci-fi cartoon ever), this is your party. If you have no idea what Adult Swim is — or why Cartoon Network would air alternative programming at night — go right back to watching HGTV.

The scoop: “Adult Swim is hitting the road and wants to spend quality time with you in the great outdoors. Prepare to experience Mother Nature in all her glory along with games, new friends, food trucks, and trivia for exclusive prizes. It’s going to be a fantastic night full of Adult Swim and lots of surprises.”

“Adult Swim On The Green will be followed by a free promotional screening of ‘Things You’ve Never Seen,’ where we’ll take a look at what’s on the horizon for the network with unaired Adult Swim episodes, never before seen pilots and specials, and a load of other Williams Street favorites.”

“Event admission is free with the purchase of a $5 Food and Beverage Voucher good towards Adult Swim concessions. Voucher must be presented at time of entry.”

Basically, they’re setting up a huge outdoor movie screen and showing us cool stuff we’ve never seen. It’s sort of like those outdoor movies every Friday at Settlers Park in Meridian. Except with zero squealing children. You have to be 18 or older.

Doors open at 7:15 p.m. By the way, the games and prizes at On the Green are secondary to the outdoor screening experience, which will start when things get dark at 9:15 p.m. And that’s just fine. What possibly could be better than the communal vibe of watching unaired Adult Swim goodies with a crowd of like-minded, late-night-TV-addicted, 23-year-old dudes? No, really!

Go get those voucher tickets at Ticketfly.

Adult Swim’s On the Green party will be the network’s second Boise visit of the day.

During the afternoon, the Rickmobile, a touring “Rick and Morty” vehicle, will roll into Captain Comics, 710 S. Vista Ave. The stop is part of the Rickmobile’s “Don’t Even Trip Road Trip Across America.” The promotion runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and will include a pop-up shop with “Rick and Morty” merchandise.

The Rickmobile will be parked at Adult Swim On the Green at Outlaw Field that night, too.
