1. SNAG FREE COMICS
Comics? Not my bag. I rarely even read the funny pages. But I had a ball last year at Free Comic Book Day, which is Saturday. There’s just something awesome about the concept. You’ll be able to grab free comics at multiple places in Boise: Captain Comics, Spacebar Arcade and local libraries.

2. CELEBRATE CINCO DE MAYO
The weather is downright Baja Mexico-like in Boise. Go treat yourself to fried tacos and Corona on Friday. Or tequila. Pretty much every Mexican restaurant and bar is throwing a big party. (Tom Grainey’s Sporting Pub is even making margaritas with Jameson Irish Whiskey.)

4. SEE LIVE MUSIC
Country-rocker Micky Braun is back in his home state for a Friday gig at the Knit with his backing band, The Motorcars. Montreal singer-songwriter Leif Vollebekk headlines The Olympic on Saturday. Malian singer-guitarist Vieux Farka Touré will play Saturday at Neurolux. And veteran rapper E-40 returns to the Revolution Center on Sunday.

5. LOOK DOWN ON OLD BOISE
Every Sunday during summer, folks in the know hang Downtown on the Reef’s rooftop patio at WOH Club, a showcase for local and regional underground producers/DJs. “We don’t play EDM, we don’t play dubstep, we don’t play loud annoying electronic music,” cofounder Christopher Taylor says. “The night is focused around the patron — that’s why we call it a social club almost. It’s a great place for the service industry person who has Sunday and Monday off to go out and have a great night with great music and all your friends there.” WOH Club is free, and it kicks off at 10 p.m. this Sunday.
