Comedian Gabriel Rutledge headlines this weekend in Boise

“Hey, I know that guy!” Gabriel Rutledge’s friendly brand of comedy makes it easy to feel welcome at his shows.

“World’s greatest dad ever”? A few other proud fathers might have something to say about that. But one thing Gabriel Rutledge can boast confidently is “Olympia, Washington’s favorite stand-up comic.” With a resume that includes appearances on nationally syndicated “The Bob & Tom Show” and Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham,” Rutledge has established himself as a dependably entertaining performer with a knack for material that has wide appeal. His gregarious approach won the Seattle International Comedy Competition in 2004. Perhaps most important, Rutledge is willing to visit Boise in winter. He headlined last December at Liquid Laughs, so the guy obviously has a good sense of humor about traveling to icy Idaho.

8 p.m. Thursday and Sunday ($10), 8 and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday ($12), Liquid Laughs, 405 S. 8th St., Boise. LiquidBoise.com.
