Boise gave Bonnie Raitt something to talk about.
The singer-guitarist became the latest touring musician to discover the magic of the Boise River and Greenbelt when she went for a bicycle ride Monday.
Raitt, in town for a concert tonight at the Idaho Botanical Garden’s Outlaw Field, parked her bike at the Boise River Park to watch river surfers skim whitewater.

The 10-time Grammy winner posted a video on her Facebook page and wrote, “On our bike ride along the beautiful Boise River Greenbelt path today, Ricky, George and I happened upon this scene. It’s always gratifying to see performers take time to enjoy Boise’s exceptional outdoor offerings. Rock band Barenaked Ladies has floated the Boise River multiple times. The day before their show in 2013, the Canadians let KIVI Channel 6 film them when they took the plunge with their inner tubes.
“Actually, “ frontman Ed Robertson said, “the first time we said Boise was one of our favorite cities in America, we got a bunch of skeptical emails. ‘Like, dude why are you making fun of Boise?’ We’re like, no, we were being serious, Boise. We love it here!”
