Treasure Valley book events include story times, lit club meeting

Story times: The Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, Ada, Caldwell and Nampa public libraries offer story programs for children of all ages. Go to their websites and click on the calendar to check out the offerings.

Literature Discussion Book Club: 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, Barnes & Noble, 1315 N. Milwaukee, Boise. Discussion of a variety of books, including current and classic fiction, biography, history and other nonfiction.

Inspirational Book Club: 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, Meridian Library, 1326 W. Cherry Lane. “Burning Sky” by Lori Benton. Books available at the Meridian Library at Cherry Lane.

Adult Book Club: 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, Boise Public Library, Collister branch, 4724 W. State St. “Circling the Sun” by Paula McLain.

Tween Creative Writing Club: 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. For aspiring writers ages 9-12. Work on writing projects, learn writing techniques and read and critique each other’s work in a safe and supportive environment.

Writers Bloc: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. Join a group of fellow writers to collaborate, critique and create together. Work on what it means to be writers in the Treasure Valley. Contact Alexi at asprague@mld.org for more information.

Literature in Translation: 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, Boise Public Library, Hillcrest branch, 5246 W. Overland Road. Book club focusing on foreign literature that has been translated into English.

Graphic Novel Book Club: 5:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. Meet twice a month for graphic novels, pizza and comic stuff. This week: “Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant” by Tony Cliff.

Fourth Friday Book Club: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, Barnes & Noble, Boise. A forum for discussion of fiction, literature and nonfiction in an open and welcome atmosphere.

Library Comic Con: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, Boise Public Library main branch, 715 S. Capitol Blvd. Fun-filled, all-day celebration of comics and comics culture.
