Treasure Valley book event calendar July 31-Aug. 6

Story times: The Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, Ada, Caldwell and Nampa public libraries offer story programs for children of all ages. Go to their websites and click on the calendar to check out the offerings.

Morning Book Club: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, Meridian Library, 1326 W. Cherry Lane. This month’s book: “The Good Earth” by Pearl S. Buck.

Harry Potter Celebration: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, Boise Public Library, main branch, 715 S. Capitol Blvd. Celebrate release of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” with crafts, Hogwarts House quizzes, Polyjuice potion, books and more. Costumes are encouraged; suitable for all ages.

Teen Creative Writing Club: 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. Aspiring writers ages 13-18 will work on writing projects, learn writing techniques and read and critique each other’s work in a safe and supportive environment.

David Proctor author visit: 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, Rediscovered Books, 180 N. 8th St., Boise. David Proctor will be talking about his new book, “A Pathway of Dreams: Building the Boise Greenbelt.”

Idaho Author and Book Extravaganza: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, Maple Grove Grange, 11692 W. President Drive, Boise. Featuring 20 of Idaho’s authors and their published works. Free.

Jerry Summers author visit: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, Rediscovered Books, Boise. Jerry Summers will sign his new novel, “Uncontrolled Spin: The Power and Danger of Spin.”
