Treasure Valley book events include story times

Story times: The Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, Ada, Caldwell and Nampa public libraries offer story programs for children of all ages. Go to their websites and click on the calendar to check out the offerings.

Literature Discussion Book Club: 7 p.m. Monday, July 25, Barnes & Noble, 1315 N. Milwaukee, Boise. Discussion of a variety of books, including current and classic fiction, biography, history and other nonfiction.

Inspirational Book Club: 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, Meridian Library, 1326 W. Cherry Lane. “Burning Sky” by Lori Benton.

BLiP Reading Series: 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, Rediscovered Books, 180 N. 8th St., Boise. BLiP is a monthly reading series that features work by local playwrights. This month’s selection: “SHOUT, SHOW, SHOVE, SHOOT” by Evan Sesek. Donations or patron membership suggested to help support HomeGrown Theatre.

Adult Book Club: 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, Boise Public Library, Collister branch, 4724 W. State St. “The Sandcastle Girls” by Chris Bohjalian.

Tween Creative Writing Club: 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. For aspiring writers ages 9-12. Work on writing projects, learn writing techniques, and read and critique each other’s work in a safe and supportive environment.

Writers Bloc: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. Come join a group of fellow writers to collaborate, critique and create together. We will be working on what it means to be writers in the Treasure Valley.

Book Club for Adults: 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, Boise Public Library, Hillcrest branch, 5246 W. Overland Road. “Liar Temptress Soldier Spy” by Karen Abbott.

Graphic Novel Book Club: 5:30-6 p.m. Thursday, July 28, Meridian Library, Cherry Lane. We will be meeting twice a month for graphic novels, pizza and awesome comic stuff. This week’s novel: “Nimona” Noelle Stevenson.

Family Book Club: 6:30-7:30 Thursday, July 28, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. “The BFG” by Roald Dahl. All ages and family members welcome. Activities including making dream jars. Sign-up is encouraged but not required.

Harry Potter Pre-Release Party: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, July 29, Garden City Public Library, 6015 N. Glenwood St. Celebrate the release of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” with activities throughout the day. Details can be found at notaquietlibrary.org.

Summer Fest Wrap and Harry Potter Birthday Party: 1-3 p.m. Saturday, July 30, Boise Public Library, Hillcrest branch, 5246 W. Overland Road.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Midnight” Release Party: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, to 12:30 a.m. Sunday, July 31, Rediscovered Books, Boise. Full day of activities during store hours; the store will reopen at 10 p.m. for fans who preordered the book and will give out the new releases at midnight. Harry Potter Countdown to Midnight Party: 8 p.m. Saturday, July 30, Barnes & Noble, Boise. Party leads up to the release of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Parts 1 and 2, which goes on sale Sunday at midnight. The party will feature a special Muggle Wall where customers can share their favorite memories of Harry Potter as well as giveaways and activities.
