Southern Idaho book event calendar May 1-7

Story times: The Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, Ada, Caldwell and Nampa public libraries offer story programs for children of all ages. Go to their websites and click on the calendar to check out the offerings.

Spring Book Sale: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 2, Garden City Library, 6015 Glenwood St. Final day of the library’s semi-annual book sale.

Carter Niemeyer author visit: 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, Rediscovered Books, 180 N. 8th St., Boise. Join us for a reading and signing of local author Carter Niemeyer’s new memoir “Wolf Land.”

Shann Ray author visit: 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7, Rediscovered Books. Hear award-winning author of “American Copper” Shann Ray speak about his writing and get your books signed.

Summer Fest Short Story Contest: Saturday, May 7, deadline. Boise writers age 18 and older can submit short stories of 2,500 words or fewer for the Summer Fest Short Story Contest. Two winning entries will be featured as registration prizes for the adult summer reading program, placing your story in the hands of thousands of Boise Public Library cardholders. Stories and questions can be submitted electronically to BPLshortstory@cityofboise.org. Winners will be announced May 25. See www.boisepubliclibrary.org for information.
