Treasure Valley book events: Story time, raffle, and more

Story times: The Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, Ada, Caldwell and Nampa public libraries offer many story programs for children of all ages. Go to their websites and click on the calendar to check out the offerings.

Raffle drawing: Monday, Feb. 8, Garden City Library, 6015 Glenwood St. Win a little red wagon filled with books and games. The raffle supports the Bells for Books bus, which serves more than 1,000 Garden City children and adults annually. Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased at the circulation desk. The drawing will be held Feb. 8.

Coffee and a Classic Book Club: Tuesday, Feb. 9, 6:30 p.m. Meridian Libray, 1326 W. Cherry Lane. Join us for coffee and refreshments as we discuss a classic the second Tuesday of each month. No registration is required.

Writing Workshop: Tuesday, Feb. 16, 7 p.m. Boise Public Library, main branch, 715 S. Capitol Blvd. Workshop participants have two roles: writer and reader. As writer, you’ll share your work and listen to feedback from fellow attendees; as reader, you’ll read others’ work, offer feedback and suggest strengths and areas for improvement. Those who attend regularly will be reading others’ work in advance.

Novel Ideas Book Club: Tuesday, Feb. 9, 7 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. Theme for February is Books vs. Movies.

Book Club for 20s and 30s: Wednesday, Feb. 10, 7 p.m. Boise Public Library, at Cole & Ustick, 7557 W. Ustick Road. This book club aims to generate engaging discussion similar to what you’d find on campus. This month, we’ll be reading Erik Larson’s “The Devil in the White City.” Sign up and check out a copy of the book at the circulation desk at the Ustick library. For more information, call 972-8300.

Graphic Novel Book Club: Thursday, Feb. 11, 5:30 p.m., Meridian Library, 1326 W. Cherry Lane. We will be meeting twice a month for graphic novels, pizza and comic stuff. Our first novel this month is “Bone Valume 1: Out from Boneville” by Jeff Smith.

E-Book Assistance: Thursday, Feb. 11, 7 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. Are you interested in downloading free e-books and e-audiobooks from the library, but not so comfortable with the details? Bring your device and your questions, and we’ll help walk you through the process. Registration required. Please either register online or contact the library for assistance.

Geneology Writing Workshop: Who Is Your Writing “Audience”? Why Does It Matter? Thursday, Feb. 11, 7 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. Workshop Series: Writing Creative Family and Local History in partnership with the Idaho Historical Society.

Library Bookclub: Thursday, Feb. 11, 2 p.m., Garden City Libary, 6015 Glenwood St. “Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win WWII” by Denise Kiernan. Pick up a copy at the circulation desk.

Boise Bookmarks: Citywide Readers & Reviewers Club for Teens: Friday, Feb. 12, 3:30 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. If you are passionate about books and reading, are in 7th-12th grade, and live in the Boise area, the Boise Bookmarks are looking for you. We read whatever we want and tell each other about the books. You’ll leave with a ton of titles to add to your TBR pile and meet teens from all over the city.
