Genealogy Writing Workshop: From Historical Community to Lively Setting: Thursday, Dec. 10, 7 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. The Library will host Steve Barrett, an archivist and family history and local records specialist at the Idaho State Historical Society who has been teaching historical research and writing classes in Idaho for 10 years. The sessions are appropriate for both budding and experienced researchers and writers.

Boise Bookmarks: Friday, Dec. 11, 3:30 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. If you are passionate about books and reading, are in 7th-12th grade and live in the Boise area, the Boise Bookmarks are looking for you. Read whatever you want and tell each other about the books. You’ll leave with a ton of titles to add to your TBR pile and meet teens from all over the city.
