Book Event Calendar: Sept. 6-12

Story times: The Boise Public Library, Ada Community Libraries, and the Meridian Library District offer many story programs for children of all ages. Go to their websites, www.boisepubliclibrary.org, www.adalib.org or www.mld.org, and click on the calendar to check out the classes.

Library closures: Monday, Sept. 7 All libraries will be closed in observance of Labor Day.

Idaho Authors’ Community: Tuesday Sept. 8, 7 p.m. Maui Wowi, Meridian.

Partners in Crime Book Group: Tuesday, Sept. 8, 7 p.m., Barnes & Noble, Boise. If you are interested in reading, writing or publishing in the fields of mystery, suspense or true crime, then stop by and visit.

Geneology Writing Workshop: Creating a Page-Turner & Courage to Write: Thursday, Sept. 10, 7 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. Part of the workshop series Writing Creative Family and Local History in partnership with the Idaho Historical Archives. Boise Public Library will host Steve Barrett, an archivist and family history and local records specialist at the Idaho State Historical Society, who has been teaching historical research and writing classes in Idaho for 10 years. The sessions are appropriate for both budding and experienced researchers and writers.

Writing Workshop: Thursday, Sept. 10, 7 p.m., Boise Public Library, Collister branch. The Writing Workshop at Collister is designed for readers who like to write and writers who like to read. This is a hands-on program for adult writers who want to share and discuss their work. The workshop is facilitated by fellow non-expert writer/readers Jennifer Laraway and Sam Counsil. Boise Bookmarks: Citywide Readers & Reviewers Club: Friday, Sept. 11, 3:30 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. If you are passionate about books and reading, are in 7th-12th grade and live in the Boise area, the Boise Bookmarks are looking for you. We read whatever we want and tell each other about the books. You’ll leave with a ton of titles to add to your TBR pile and meet teens from all over the city.
