Book event calendar: Aug. 16-22

Story times: The Boise Public Library, Meridian Library District and the Ada Community Library District offer many story programs for children of all ages. Go to their websites, www.boisepubliclibrary.org, www.adalib.org or www.mld.org, and click on the calendar to check out the classes.

Summer reading programs: There are various summer reading programs for your children. For more information, visit the Boise Public Library at boisepubliclibrary.org and the Meridian Library District at mld.org.

Literature in Translation: Tuesday, Aug. 18, 7 p.m., Boise Public Library, Hillcrest branch. Join us for a book club focusing on foreign literature that has been translated into English.

Sci-fi author visit: John Scalzi, Thursday, Aug. 20, 7 p.m. Boise Public Library, main branch. Scalzi will speak about his new book, “The End of All Things.” A book-signing will follow the program.
