Join us at Highlands Hollow Brewhouse on the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. to enjoy a relaxed chat about books. Free Drop-In Writing Workshop: 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, The Cabin, 801 S. Capitol Blvd., Boise. Drop-in is hosted by alternately by writers Danny Stewart and Heidi Kraay who create unique prompts designed to inspire a supportive community of local writers. This month’s workshop is hosted by Stewart.

Kate Peterson author event: 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, Rediscovered Books, Boise. Book signing and release party for “You’re Weird,” a creative journal created by Boise author and illustrator Kate Peterson.
Teen Reading Group: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, Boise Public Library Hillcrest branch, 5246 W. Overland Road. The Library! at Hillcrest has created a reading group just for teens which explores diversity and multiculturalism. The group is open to anyone ages 13-18, and will focus on contemporary young-adult fiction, non-fiction, and online articles. The first meeting will serve as an introductory session, with no suggested reading necessary prior to the event. The program will take place monthly.
Writer’s Bloc Presents: Hilarey Johnson: 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, unBound Flexible Open Space, 713 N. Main St., Meridian. Hilarey Johnson was a competitor in the Meridian Writers 2017 program with her novel “Heart of Petra.” Her other books include “Sovereign Ground” and the “Dance of the Crane” series. Are you the type of person who never stops talking about lightning scars, herbology, quidditch, and horcruxes? If so join us each month starting in June as we read or reread one of the Harry Potter books in celebration of JK Rowling’s Wizard World Book Club. This month’s book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. We will talk about the book, eat snacks, and watch clips from the Harry Potter movie of the same name.
Boise Bookmarks: Citywide Readers & Reviewers Club for Teens: 3:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, July 14, Boise Public Library main branch. If you are passionate about books and reading, are in 7th-12th grade and live in the Boise area, the Boise Bookmarks are looking for you! We’re not your average book club — we don’t all read the same book and discuss it. Instead, we all read whatever we want and tell each other about the books.
