Treasure Valley book events includes a brew or two

Story times: Area public libraries offer story programs for children of all ages. Go to their websites and click on the calendar to check out the offerings.

Books & Brews: 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, Highlands Hollow Brewhouse, 2455 N. Harrison Hollow Lane, Boise. Meets the second Monday of every month for a relaxed chat about books. Guests can come and talk about what they’re reading and hear about what others are enjoying. Facilitated by Boise Public Library staff.

Ramblin’ Readers Walking Club: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, Boise Public Library, Hillcrest branch, 5246 W. Overland Road. 30- to 45-minute round-trip walk every Tuesday. Participants should bring suitable footwear and water.

Teen Creative Writing Workshop: 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, Meridian Library, 1326 W. Cherry Lane. Meets on the second Tuesday of the month. Ages 13-18.

Coffee and a Classic Book Club: 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. This month’s book: “The Fortress of Solitude” by Jonathan Lethem.

Writers Bloc: The Craft of MicroFiction: 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane. Be prepared to discuss the craft of a certain genre, theme, etc. Sign up for email list or ask questions at asprague@mld.org.

Jody Bower author visit: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, Rediscovered Books, 180 N. 8th St., Boise. Former Boisean Jody Gentian Bower will talk about her book “Jane Eyre’s Sisters: How Women Live and Write the Heroine Story.”

Richard Paul Evans author event: 7 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 14, Barnes & Noble, 1315 N. Milwaukee, Boise. Richard Paul Evans will be signing his newest book, “Fall of Hades.” Beginning Tuesday, the store will be handing out special reserved seating tickets with each purchase of “Fall of Hades.” Reserved seating is limited. Tickets for placement in the signing line will also be available Tuesday.

Poetry Slam: 8-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, Meridian Library Silverstone branch, 3531 E. Overland Road. Sign-ups at 7:30, slam starts at 8.

Mystery Book Club: 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, Meridian Library at Cherry Lane: The theme for September is “Legal Thrillers.” Stop by the Meridian Library at Cherry Lane to grab some recommended books based on this month’s theme.

Diane Raptosh author visit: 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, Rediscovered Books. Diane Raptosh, author of “American Amnesiac,” will read from and speak about her new book, “Human Directional.”

Local Authors Night: 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, Barnes & Noble, Boise. Meet eight local authors: Pam Strain, Jon Strain, Michelle Jacobi, Steve Shaw, Cameron Morfit, Carla Anne Hart, Brent Rock Russell and Alan Drew. Books from each author will be available for purchase and for the authors to sign.
