Boise’s Rediscovered Bookshop celebrates 10 years of good reads

Ten years ago, Laura and Bruce Delaney quit their day jobs and followed their dream: They opened a bookstore. Little did they know they’d be creating a cultural touchstone for Boise’s literary community. Every year, The Rediscovered Bookshop brings in dozens of nationally known and local writers for appearances and readings. It also hosts literary events throughout the Treasure Valley.

“And we’ve made it for 10 years,” Laura Delaney says. “It’s a hugely good feeling to be so well cared for by our customers who make the decision to buy local.”

You can celebrate with the Delaneys with games, special discounts, poetry contests and cookies. Write poetry, play book bingo — a kind of scavenger hunt at the Capital City Public Market — and get 15 percent discounts on different lit genres at different times throughout the day. At 7 p.m., listen to the Boise State University Graduate String Quartet.

10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, Rediscovered Bookshop, 180 N. 8th St., Boise.
