UPDATE: HomeGrown Theater’s BLiP play reading for Tuesday, July 26, is canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances” the company said in a release. It will be rescheduled for August.

▪  Grab your rhymes and head to the Flash Poetry Competition at 7 p.m. Friday, July 22. Write and perform your flash poems (no longer than 400 words) for celebrity judges. Free.

▪  HomeGrown Theater’s BLiP, a play-reading series at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, features Evan Sesek’s “Shout, Show, Shove, Shoot.” Free.

▪  Celebrate the newest part of the Harry Potter universe, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I and II” with a release party on Saturday, July 30. “Cursed Child” is a play based on J.K. Rowling’s story about Harry 19 years later that opens that day in London. In Boise, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., you’ll find face painting, Sorting Hat photo booth, Dueling Club and more.
