Maestro Robert Franz finishes his Boise Phil gig in style

Franz says farewell

After an eight-year run, Boise Philharmonic Music Director Robert Franz will conduct the orchestra for the last time as its official leader this weekend. Franz chose to end his contract at the end of this season; he will finish his tenure with a dynamic and thrilling concert. Hear two-time Grammy nominated violinist Jennifer Frautschi perform Brahms’ moving Violin Concerto. Frautschi is one of today’s dynamic classical performers who is putting the genre in the spotlight with her interpretations of tried-and-true chestnuts and lesser-known works. The concert will finish with a performance of Smetana’s symphonic poem “The Moldau.” (Note: The concerts are on different dates than usual.)

▪  8 p.m. (7 p.m. preconcert lecture), Saturday, April 16, Morrison Center, 2201 Cesar Chavez Lane, Boise. $23.75-$71.50

▪  3 p.m. (2 p.m. preconcert lecture), Sunday, April 17, Brandt Center, Northwest Nazarene University, 707 Fern St., Nampa. $22-$43.50 at BoisePhil.org.
