If you’ve been wanting to check out the Sun Valley arts scene there are a couple of upcoming events to put on your calendar:
• First, see many of the area’s artists plus dozens more from beyond Idaho at the 47th annualSun Valley Center for the Arts

on Aug. 7-9 at Atkinson Park, 900 3rd Ave. in Ketchum. You’ll find work from more than 100 artists, plus demonstrations from 1 to 4 p.m. daily. Kids can make stuff at the Kids Activity Tent from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. On stage, see a mix of musicians, from classical (Johann Helton, guitar) to bluegrass (Dewey, Pickett and Howe) to Latin jazz (Jimmy Mitchell + 3).

• Later in the month, get a more up close view of Wood River Valley artists at the third annual
on Aug. 22-23. That weekend you can step into more than 50 working artists’ studios in Hailey, Bellevue, Ketchum and Sun Valley. Head up the night before for the reception from 5-8 p.m. on Aug. 21 atNexStage Theatre
, 120 N. Main St. in Ketchum. There, you can see a group show of work by artists on the tour. It’s all free.
