Call to writers: Enter The Cabin’s annual 'Writers in the Attic' contest

Poets, essayists and storytellers: Get out your pens or fire up your computer. The Cabin, Boise’s literary center, is seeking submissions for its seventh annual “Writers in the Attic” anthology.

Submit your original work by 5 p.m. Feb. 27, 2015.

The writing will be blind judged by a local literary notable, and selected works will be published in “Writers in the Attic 2015.”

Each author can enter up to five pieces for the $15 entry fee ($10 for Cabin members).

Here's your theme: “An animal – a mammal – a sentient creature distinct from a mineral or a plant. An animal – any such living thing other than a human being. But, wait, there is an animal in every human being –it’s the carnal, physical or sensual part of the self. A tiger – a wild, untamed beast; A Guinea pig – a harmless, squeaky, stinky pet; Your former neighbor - a womanizer, a squirrel poacher, a brutish backyard grill master; all animals. Four-footed, two-footed, a flock, a herd…or a lone wolf – tell us about an animal.”
