Boise Mayor Dave Bieter named Treefort Music Fest as the city’s 2015 Cultural Ambassador on Wednesday, an honor that comes with a $25,000 grant.
The recognition is for the festival’s impact on Boise’s economy and its developing cultural scene, Bieter said in a press release. “Treefort is such a great event because of how organically Boise it truly is. Perhaps more than any other event, it captures the essence of Boise’s creative, vibrant and unique cultural scene.”
Treefort has become a regional presence since it started in 2012, bringing hundreds of bands to Boise for the five-day music and arts festival in March. Each year it has grown to fill more venues, and it has expanded to include film, technology and literary arts.
In 2013, Treefort received the Emerging Organization honor for the Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in Art & History.
