Nampa celebrates literature with the first Death Rattle Writers Festival

You’ll find some of the best-known area writers — from poets to playwrights — reading their work in Nampa galleries, bookstores, coffeehouses and bars for the inaugural Death Rattle Writers Festival on Oct. 9 and 10.

Scheduled writers include J. Reuben Appelman, Christian Winn, Alan Heathcock, Diane Raptosh and event organizers Diane Forgione, Griffin Birdsong and Dig Reeder. Many will have copies of their books available for purchase.

Both nights feature open mics, so bring your own work to share. Open mic readers will be inserted between the scheduled speakers.

You can also submit your work for a Death Rattle Literary issues of The Sentimentalist, a bi-monthly poetry magazine that is published in Boise. Drop it by the booth at the festival. It does not have to be poetry.
