Call to musicians: Meridian Symphony will hold auditions in August

Put those years of high school band practice to good use. The Meridian Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions for its 25th anniversary season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 2 and 9 at United Methodist Church, 240 E. Idaho Ave. in Meridian.

The all-volunteer community orchestra led by former Boise Philharmonic music director Jim Ogle is seeking musicians for the following positions: principal trumpet, section trumpet, principal clarinet, second oboe, second bassoon, section strings and percussion.

The Meridian Symphony presents four concerts each season, including a spring concert that features winners of its Young Artists Competition and a summer outdoor concert.
