Boise Department of Arts and History and its director receive national awards

Terri Schorzman, director of the Boise City Department of Arts and History, received an Award of Merit for Leadership in History from the American Association for State and Local History for her work in preserving and interpreting Boise’s history.

Her department staff also received an Award of Merit for its work developing the South Boise Trolley Station Plaza, in Ivywild Park, 2250 S. Leadville Ave., Boise.

The association gave out 77 Leadership in History Awards nationally. Schorzman and the department will receive the awards at a banquet in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 19.

Schorzman took the reins of the department in 2008 as the new city department's first director. She led its innovative and creative staff in the city’s year-long Sesquicentennial Celebration in 2013 that truly connected with the community, creating a mix of civic pride and conversation about the importance of history in our community.
