Join the Idaho Shakespeare Festival's book club this summer

The Idaho Shakespeare Festival is hosting an online book club this year that will complement its season of plays that runs May 31 to Sept. 28. To participate, just "like" the Facebook group starting May 14, read along with the actors and post your comments.

It’s organized and run by actor Tom Ford, who you will see as Sidney Bruhl in the season-opening “Deathtrap” and other roles throughout the season.

Here are the books:

If “Deathtrap” doesn’t provide you with enough summer thrills, we’ve selected Ira Levin’s first novel “A Kiss Before Dying” to keep you on the edge of your seat.

To accompany our Shakespeare plays this summer, we selected a brand new anthology of published by the Library of America. It’s filled with essays and stories and historical documents all celebrating the history of Shakespeare in America.

Many of us know the musical “Les Miserables,” but how many of us have read it? We will read Victor Hugo’s classic novel and then see the phenomenal musical it inspired.

“Steel Magnolias” is a delightful and moving play about strong Southern women. “The All Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion” by Fannie Flagg is the latest book by an author who is no stranger to strong Southern ladies.

Our final selection for the summer is the new novel “All the Light We Cannot See” by Boise author Anthony Doerr.

All the books will be available at Rediscovered Books, 180 N. 8th St., in Downtown Boise. You will be able to purchase both hard-or soft-bound books and eBooks there.
