The Nampa Civic Center opens its performing arts season on Friday, Oct. 14, with the return of The McManus Comedies, a long-standing and fruitful collaboration between well-known humorist Patrick F. McManus and actor Tim Behrens, pictured. In “A Fine and Pleasant Misery,” McManus shares tales of his childhood misadventures that evoke universal memories for all. McManus grew up on a farm north of Sandpoint. He uses his wily wit and feel for rural life to fuel his comedy that Behrens, a Spokane-based actor, has performed for 25 years.

7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, Nampa Civic Center, 311 3rd St. S. $26. 468-5555, nampaciviccenter.com.
