Miss Idaho Kylee Solberg made Top 15 at the Miss America competition on Sunday, Sept. 11. She did not go forward into the Top 12, but she did get a chance to compete in the lifestyle (swimsuit) segment.
Ironically, it came down to the last name Miss Iowa (not Idaho) got the nod.
Solberg, who grew up in Coeur d’Alene and now goes to Boise State University, is only the second Miss Idaho to make it into the Top 15 since 1972 when Karen Herd became the first runner up.
In 2015, Miss Idaho Sierra Sandison was “America’s Choice” into the Top 15 with her platform of raising awareness for diabetes. Sandison wore her insulin pump during competition.
