Celebrate Downtown arts, culture and shopping May 7 in Downtown Boise:

• Boise’s Linen District will become a creative-expression hot zone for the 8th Modern Art at

The Modern Hotel

, 1314 W. Grove St., from 5 to 10 p.m. More than 80 artists will fill its rooms, nooks and crannies at the boutique hotel with installations, murals, dance, music and performance art. You’ll also find the Boise Bicycle Project’s annual Bike Builders Gallery in room 108 and a bicycle corral on the west side, plus food trucks and a special cocktail menu served inside and at the parking lot bar.

1415 W. Grove St., for “Mini Menagerie,” an art show of small works by artists Laurie Blakeslee, Karen Bubb, Ellen DeAngelis and Jessie Proksa from 5 to 9 p.m.



• For another party, zip over to

Boise Art Glass

and

FireFusion Studio

, 1124 Front St., and watch Boise native and Pilchuck alumnus Cheyenne Malcolm blow glass from 7 to 10 p.m. You can taste Boise Brewing beer and Potter Wines, listen to Spoon Dragon and make you own glass cup ($40) or wearable enamel art piece ($25). Reservation: 345-1825.
