The Cabin’s Readings & Conversations literary series puts the emphasis on the latter as Pulitzer Prize-winning Boise author Tony Doerr and National Book Award finalist Jess Walter open the 2015-16 season. Good friends and good writers, the two will chat and banter about life and literature, and share world premiere writings inspired by prompts from The Cabin’s youth summer workshops. This is Doerr’s first major appearance since he received the Pulitzer for his novel “ All the Light We Cannot See” in April. This is Walter’s second time in Boise. He gave the keynote at Lunch for Literacy in 2012. Walter’s latest book is “We Live in Water: Stories” (Harper Perennial), his first collection of short stories.
8 p.m. Oct. 6, Morrison Center, 2201 Cesar Chavez Lane, Boise. $28.50-$39.50; $17 students. Ticketmaster.
