Take the kids for some high-voltage fun at the Discovery Center of Idaho’s “Zap! The Current Exhibit.” Built from the ground up in DCI’s workshop, “Zap” explores how nature and humans generate power. You can build a solar power kit-car and race it, make electricity from your own strength, wind, water and more. Also you can learn the “electrifying” history of power in the Gem State in the Idaho Power history gallery.

Friday, July 1, to Sunday, Nov. 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. 131 Myrtle St., Boise. $10 general, $8 veterans and active military, $7 on Sundays. Free for 2 and younger. 343-9895, DCIdaho.org.
