Cowboy up this weekend in the Meridian and Mountain Home

After 25 years the Meridian Lions Club moved its annual Meridian Lions Rodeo to align with Dairy Days, the city’s celebration of its agricultural roots. You can see barrel racing, bull and saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and other rodeo-arts disciplines at this Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association event this weekend, instead of late September.

5 p.m. Saturday, June 25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, pre-rodeo events start 1 hour prior, 6054 W. Cherry Lane, Meridian. $10 adults, $7 kids and seniors. Find more info on the group’s Facebook page.

You also can catch rodeo action in Mountain Home for another PRCA event at the 11th Daniel Dopps Memorial Rodeo. You can watch bareback and saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, bull riding and more. There also is a 5K fun run, and post-rodeo dancing to the Jeff Palmer Band each night.

8 p.m. Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25 (calf scramble starts at 7:30 p.m.), Optimist Park at Elmcrest Street and West 5th North, Mountain Home. 3dMemorialRodeo.org.
