Tour de Fat to bring bikes, beer to Boise’s Ann Morrison Park this weekend

Last year, Tour de Fat set records in its 13th annual Boise visit: About 10,000 participants rode in the wacko bicycle parade, and the same amount showed up for the afternoon festival. The event, produced by New Belgium Brewing of Fort Collins, Colo., generated more than $70,000 for Idaho bicycling nonprofits.

This year, organizers hope to break records again. How can you help? By registering for the parade and drinking a beer or two at Ann Morrison Park. In other words, by partying all day.

Tour de Fat isn’t just a cycling and beer bash, though. There’s entertainment for everyone.

Critic’s pick: Do not miss indie-soul group Lake Street Dive, pictured at right. Singer Rachael Price’s voice is a jaw-dropping blend of Carole King and Amy Winehouse.

Veteran’s tip: Don’t be afraid to wear a tutu, gents. They’re reportedly quite sporty in hot weather.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 15, Ann Morrison Park, 1000 N. Americana Blvd., Boise. newbelgium.com. Free .
