In a pie or off the tree, there’s no bad way to enjoy a cherry, and you can get your fill at the 84th annual Emmett Cherry Festival, a community gathering to celebrate the sweet and tangy fruit. Prefestival fun kicks off on Saturday, June 10, with the Gem County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo at the Gem County Fairgrounds. Bronc action starts at 11 a.m.
Then you’ll find four days of cherry-filled fun from Wednesday, June 14, to Saturday, June 17. Events include quilt and art shows, a classic car show, a model train display, a petting zoo, a carnival and the big pie-eating contest (2 p.m. Saturday, June 17). The Children’s Parade is 6:30 p.m. June 16, and the big Cherry Festival Parade is at 6 p.m. June 17.
Musical headliners are The Retreads (June 14), Lucky Tongue (June 15), Soul Patch (June 16) and Emily Stanton Band (June 17).
