Check out the cosmos at the Boise Astronomical Society and Bogus Basin Ski Area’s annual Star Party. Don’t worry if you don’t know what nebulae are — you will before you leave after this evening of nature hikes and solar viewing. Stick around until after dark, and you can see the terrain of Mars, Venus and our other neighboring planets, as well as far-out galaxies, such as Andromeda, pictured, through high-powered telescopes. If you get hooked, you can enter a drawing for a free Celestron Telescope. (The weather is predicted to be clear and cold, but this event is weather permitting. If there are clouds, the event won’t take place.)
5:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct.22, Bogus Basin Ski Area Nordic Lodge, 2600 Bogus Basin Road, Boise. Admission is free with a canned food item for The Idaho Foodbank. BogusBasin.org/events.
