In its latest weekly update on the swine flu, the Idaho Health and Welfare Department said 369 patients with swine flu have been hospitalized since Sept. 1. More than a quarter of those have been in children under 10 years old.
Reports of the illness have begun to decline in some areas, but Idaho health officials are still urging people in priority groups to receive the H1N1 vaccine. Flu seasons generally last through spring, and flu-related illness will likely increase again, the department said.
In Boise, the Central District Health Department will hold its next mass-vaccination clinic from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the former Comp USA store, 1195 N Milwaukee St. The Monday clinics will continue until Dec. 21. Lines at last Monday’s clinic were lengthy.
Priority groups include pregnant women, people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months old, health-care and emergency medical services personnel, anyone 6 months to 24 years old, and people 25 to 64 who have chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
