Idaho colleges notebook: Vandals remain in top 3 at WAC men's golf tourney

Idaho remained in third place and Boise State climbed to eighth Tuesday in the second round of the WAC men's golf tournament in Henderson, Nev. New Mexico State leads with a combined score of 7-over 583 entering Wednesday's final round. Idaho shot even-par 288 on Monday and returned with a 13-over 301 on Tuesday to bring its total to 589. Boise State's two-day total is 624 after shooting 317 in the second round. Freshman Jarred Bossio led Idaho on Tuesday with a 1-over 73 and is at even-par 144, four strokes off the lead of 140 by New Mexico State's Travis Reid. Boise State's Robbie Richards also shot 1-over 73 and is tied for 19th at 7-over 151.

BOISE STATE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Kinzi Poteet, a 6-foot-2 post player from Washington's Grandview High, signed a national letter of intent with the Broncos. As a senior, Poteet averaged 16 points and eight rebounds. She set school records for career points (1,207) and points in a game (35).

IDAHO MEN'S BASKETBALL: Landon Tatum, a 5-foot-11 guard who was the only player to start all 31 games last season for a South Plains College (Texas) team that finished 27-4, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Idaho. He averaged 7.1 points and 5.8 assists per game and shot 46 percent from the floor as the team's leader in minutes played.

LEWIS-CLARK STATE BASEBALL: The Warriors moved up to No. 5 in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 after they won four of six games since being ranked sixth in last week's poll.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE BASEBALL: Jackson Wilde has signed a National letter of intent to play for the Crusaders. Jackson, a catcher out of McNary High School in Keizer, Ore., was a first-team All-Central Valley Conference selection and an honorable-mention Oregon 6A all-state team member last season as a junior.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE SOFTBALL: Chelsey Anderson tossed a four-hit shutout to lead the Crusaders to a 4-0 victory over the College of Idaho on Tuesday afternoon at NNU's Halle Field. The Coyotes won the opening game of the nonconference twinbill 6-0 behind the bat of Heather Dixon, who who homered in her first two at-bats.
