Madigan Taulelei, Boise: The senior running back, who transferred from Tacoma, Wash., gave the Braves the edge they needed in a 23-7 victory over Centennial in both teams' season opener. Taulelei, 6-foot and 200 pounds, had 31 carries for 250 yards and two touchdowns.

Megan Nelson, Centennial: The Patriots claimed the championship at the Kuna Klassic on Saturday at Kuna High. Nelson, a junior setter, totaled 68 assists, 10 aces and 13 digs in three matches, including 22 assists, three aces and five digs in Centennial's victory over Vale, Ore., in the championship match.
Emma Bailey, Eagle: The Mustangs remained unbeaten with three victories last week. Bailey, a sophomore forward, compiled eight goals and five assists, including four goals in a 6-0 win over Borah and three goals in a 5-2 victory against Timberline.
Francisco Gonzalez, Caldwell: The Cougars allowed just one goal while scoring 25 in three wins last week. Gonzalez, a senior forward, contributed seven goals and five assists, highlighted by a three-goal game in a 12-1 win against Meridian.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Erin Hagen, Mountain View: The senior kicked off the 2014 season with an individual victory on the challenging course at Camel's Back Park in Boise. Hagen finished the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 31.10 seconds to help the Mavericks take second as a team.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Ammon Christensen, Skyview: The senior set a school record with his victory at the season-opening Skyview Open in Nampa. Christensen crossed the finish line in 16 minutes, 39 seconds.
