In two seasons at Ventura College in California, Riley Smith caught 60 passes for 783 yards and nine touchdowns as the Pirates won back-to-back SCFA Northern Conference titles.
On Tuesday, the 2012 Timberline High graduate said he accepted a full-ride scholarship to play for Oregon beginning this fall.
“It’s a dream come true. I mean, I’ve said it before, but I just want to inspire others to accomplish their dreams,” Smith said. “I put my heart and soul, blood, sweat and tears into this game, and it’s beginning to pay off.”
The 6-foot, 192-pound slot receiver also considered offers from Alabama, USC, Arizona, UCLA, Florida, Cincinnati, Fresno State, Utah State and Oregon State, he said.
Never miss a local story.
Smith originally attended Snow College (Utah) out of high school, but he severely sprained his left ankle before the start of the season.
He then transferred to Ventura in 2013, sat out the 2014 season to focus on academics and returned to the field in 2015.
