Rocky Mountain senior guard Conner Vrba verbally committed to a full-ride scholarship to Idaho on Friday night.
The two-time, first-team All-Idaho selection will grayshirt this fall and join the Vandals in January of 2016.
The 6-3, 280-pound Vrba said he picked Idaho over offers from Weber State and Central Washington.
“I really like the coaching staff,” he said. “It’s a beautiful place up there with a great education. It’s close, so my family can come to all my games. Overall, it’s everything I wanted in a school.”
Never miss a local story.
Vrba played guard at Rocky Mountain, where he helped the Grizzlies average 41.7 points per game on their way to a state semifinal appearance. But he said Idaho plans to switch him to center.
Vrba plans to sign a letter of intent Feb. 4. He said he had an original offer to join the Vandals this fall. But after Idaho recruited a couple junior college linemen, he opted to grayshirt.
“I thought it was the best option so I could possibly be a four-year starter,” Vrba said.
