The College of Idaho baseball team had 16 hits in a 12-9 victory over host British Columbia on Sunday, then they were held to four in a 5-0 loss to No. 3 Lewis-Clark State in the final game of the NAIA West Championships.
Hunter Hanson was 4-for-5 with two RBIs for C of I (38-20) against UBC, and Cole Mansanarez (Blackfoot High) had three hits and three RBIs.
LCSC’s Connor Brogdon and Jake Barnett combined to blank the Yotes and give the Warriors (48-7) their fourth straight shutout and the NAIA West title in their first tournament appearance.
LCSC is in the NAIA World Series as the tournament host. UBC (38-20) and C of I advance to the NAIA National Championships Opening Round, a set of nine, five-team tournaments to determine the remaining World Series berths. Sites and pairings will be announced Friday.
