Tiana Thomas (Middleton High) won her second straight Cascade Conference heptathlon championship Friday, setting a school record with 4,596 points after winning the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 18.02 seconds for 851 points. Freshman Kimber Hawkins finished fifth with 3,546. Brooks Ney (Caldwell High) was fifth in the men’s decathlon with 5,702, despite having his pole break and scoring no points in the pole vault.
BOISE STATE MEN’S GOLF: The Broncos are ninth after the first of three rounds at the Mountain West Championships in Tucson, Ariz. Logan France leads the team in a tie for 13th place after a 1-under 71. Kyle Mitsunaga (Boise High) is 23rd at even.
BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos (12-30, 4-10 MW) were swept by Utah State in Logan, losing 7-6 and 16-2.
NORTHWEST NAZARENE BASEBALL: The Crusaders (23-15, 18-10 GNAC) swept Western Oregon in Nampa, winning 5-4 and 14-10.
NNU SOFTBALL: The Crusaders (16-28, 10-16 GNAC) were swept at Montana State Billings, losing 8-6 and 9-7.
