Quarterback Teejay Gordon tied a school record for completions (21), throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns to lead the College of Idaho to a 38-17 win over Rocky Mountain on Saturday at Simplot Stadium in front of 4,295 fans.
Gordon hit tight end Marcus Lenhardt (Eagle High) for all three touchdowns, including an 18-yard strike that broke a 17-17 tie with 2 minutes, 6 seconds left in the third quarter. Chris Waters set up the TD when he recovered a fumble on a Rocky Mountain punt snap on the previous play, and the Yotes scored the final 21 points of the game.
The Yotes (3-4, 3-3 Frontier Conference) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never trailed as they matched their league win total from a season ago with four games remaining.
Lenhardt caught eight passes for a career-high 143 yards, the most by a College of Idaho receiver since 1969.
Defensive back Nate Moore (Mountain View High) and linebacker Troy Carr (Lakeland High) led the College of Idaho with 12 tackles each.
The Yotes travel to No. 2 Southern Oregon, the defending national champion, on Oct. 24.
