For the second time in five days, Boise State senior linebacker Tanner Vallejo’s name has appeared on a preseason award watchlist.
On Friday, Vallejo was one of 88 defensive players placed on the Nagurski Trophy watchlist, an award honoring the top defensive player in college football. On Tuesday, the Butkus Award named Vallejo to its preseason watchlist. The Butkus honors the nation’s top linebacker.
Vallejo played in 12 games last season, making 10 starts. He was third on the team with 57 tackles, tied for second with two forced fumbles and tied for fourth with 8.0 tackles for loss. He has 208 total tackles and 30 tackles for loss in his Boise State career.

Boise State’s coaching staff will host the Helmets & Heels women’s Clinic on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Bleymaier Football Center and at Albertsons Stadium.
The event will run from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., and will include football instruction, drill stations and a look behind the scenes of the football program.
