The medical fund benefiting Boise State senior safety Jeremy Ioane has received more than $21,500 in donations through a youcaring.com website. The goal was $20,000.
The donations began Thursday morning after an Idaho Statesman story in which Ioane revealed publicly for the first time that he needs a kidney transplant.
There was another spike in donations Monday — about $5,000 — after he spoke at a press conference for the first time.
Ioane also received a $7,500 grant from the College Football Assistance Fund in addition to the local fundraising.
Never miss a local story.
Ioane has been covered by his family insurance and university insurance. After he graduates this month, he’ll lose the university insurance.
