Note: Each day during camp, we’ll take a look at one of the former Boise State football players in the NFL. The full list is here.
Former Boise State wide receiver Austin Pettis is coming off his most productive NFL season but ESPN.com reports that Pettis is “falling” on the St. Louis Rams’ crowded depth chart.
Pettis played in every game and made six starts last season. He finished with a career-high 38 catches for a career-high 399 yards. He caught four touchdown passes for the second straight season.
The Rams have gotten a nice boost from veteran newcomer Kenny Britt (157 career catches). He and Tavon Austin (40 catches for 418 yards last year) are listed as the starting wide receivers. The backups are Brian Quick (18 catches last year) and Stedman Bailey (17 catches last year). The third-teamers are Pettis and Chris Givens (34 catches for 569 yards last year). Bailey, however, is suspended for the first four games.
Never miss a local story.
If you missed it last night, here is my post on Kellen Moore's night with the Lions.
