Boise's favorite quarterback is now a dad.
Kellen Moore’s wife, Julie, gave birth to their son Saturday in Michigan. The boy’s name is Kyler Robert Moore. He is their first child.
Moore, the Boise State starting quarterback from 2008 to 2011, is in his third year as the No. 3 quarterback for the Detroit Lions.
Moore played late Friday night in Oakland. The birth was planned for Saturday after he returned home.
The Lions play Friday at home against the Jaguars. The game is not scheduled for national TV. The replay is scheduled for 2 a.m. Saturday on NFL Network.
Former Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore entered late in the third quarter of the Detroit Lions’ preseason game Friday night at Oakland but couldn’t match last week’s magic.
Moore was 5-for-8 for 49 yards with a sack. He led a 14-play, 76-yard drive that stalled inside the Raiders’ 10-yard line and resulted in a field goal. His other two possessions resulted in three-and-outs.
On the long drive, Moore threw two incomplete passes inside the 10-yard line. Both were dropped by receivers. The second-down pass would have put the ball at about the 2-yard line. The third-down pass would not have resulted in a touchdown.
The field goal gave the Lions a 26-20 lead. However, the Raiders scored with 6 seconds left to win 27-26.
Moore, who threw the game-winning touchdown pass a week earlier, remains the Lions’ No. 3 quarterback. Backup Dan Orlovsky played well against the Raiders. He was 8-for-12 for 153 yards.
The Lions game is set for a couple of replays on the NFL Network.
Moore’s wife, Julie, is pregnant with their first child, a boy. She is scheduled to give birth Saturday so Moore can be there.
The Lions play next Friday at home against the Jaguars. The game is not scheduled for national TV.
