The Tri-City Dust Devils released their Opening Day roster on Tuesday, and it includes 2013 Rocky Mountain High graduate Mason Smith.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound right fielder is one of five outfielders listed on the roster.
The Dust Devils open the 2015 Northwest League season with a five-game series at the Boise Hawks beginning Thursday. First pitch is 7:15 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
Smith has spent the past two seasons in the Padres’ Arizona Rookie League.

Anthony Contreras, who was Smith’s coach last season, was recently named the manager of the Dust Devils. Contreras hinted at Smith’s role with the Dust Devils in a recent interview with the Tri-City Herald.
“(Smith) would most likely be our right fielder,” Contreras told the Herald. “A lot of guys I had last year will be here with me. They might be more comfortable knowing the way I coach.”
Smith, who was chosen by the Padres with the 118th pick of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft, is batting .204 with 16 doubles, four triples, one home run, 21 RBIs and 33 runs scored in two seasons with the AZL Padres. Smith received a signing bonus of $415,000, according to BaseballAmerica.com.
