The Coyotes won the College of Idaho Invitational for the first time Tuesday at Ridgecrest Golf Club. The C of I took a four-shot lead into the second round and finished at 67-over 643 — one stroke ahead of Rocky Mountain and Oregon Tech. Natalie Mullins (Eagle High) took second for the Coyotes at 153 — three strokes off winner Kyla Clancy of Rocky Mountain. All four C of I scorers were in the top 12, as Shaunel Fillmore (Rocky Mountain High) was seventh at 161; Lexi Oropeza (Caldwell High) took eighth at 162; and Kaily Beatty was 12th at 168.
NORTHWEST NAZARENE/C OF I MEN’S GOLF: Keynan Fanslow took medalist honors and the Crusaders won the College of Idaho Invitational — both with school records. Fanslow finished at 9-under 207 to win by one stroke over teammate Jack Strickland. NNU shot 15-under 849 to top Oregon Tech by two strokes. The Coyotes placed ninth (52-over 916). Reed Burroughs was the top C of I finisher in a tie for 17th (9-over 225).
NNU WOMEN’S GOLF: The Crusaders took fifth place at the Western Washington Invite, led by Samantha Miller’s fifth-place finish. NNU carded a two-round total 58-over 642, while Northeastern State took the title at 600. Miller’s 5-over 151 was six strokes back of medalist Jennifer Liedes of Saint Martin’s.
