Boise’s bullpen could not hold off the Spokane Indians, and the Hawks lost 5-2 on Monday in Northwest League action.
Ryan Metzler hit his first home run of the season to give Boise a 1-0 lead, and Sean Bouchard hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 after five.
Spokane tied the score with runs in the sixth and seventh before a three-run outburst in the ninth.
Boise struck out 14 times and continued to struggle with runners in scoring position, going 1 for 6 and stranding eight runners. Boise starter Garrett Schilling threw four perfect innings in his season debut.
