Utah State senior AJ Boully finished sixth in his heat and 13th overall in the 400-meter hurdle prelims Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Boully, a 2010 Borah High graduate, earned second-team All-American honors for his 13th-place finish in a time of 50.47 seconds.
The top two runners from each heat and the two next best times advanced to Friday’s final.
Arkansas junior Kemar Mowatt had the top qualifying time, winning Heat 2 in 48.64 seconds.
Boully holds the Idaho overall state meet record in the 300 hurdles (37.44) and was a four-time state champion. He competed for the Aggies for two seasons (2010-11, 2011-12) before going on a two-year church mission.
He returned to the Aggies’ program beginning with the the 2015-16 season, finishing 20th at last year’s NCAA meet.
