Travis Ewanyk recorded a goal and an assist, bringing his team-leading total to 14 goals, and Idaho dominated the Alaska Aces in a 6-1 ECHL hockey win Wednesday night at CenturyLink Arena. The victory is Idaho’s third straight.
Ewanyk extended his points streak to five games. He has six goals and 13 points in the past nine contests.
Joe Basaraba had a three-point night with a goal and two assists, while Joe Faust added a goal and an assist. Faust has four goals and four assists in his past seven games. The goal was Faust’s 10th of the season — tying him for the lead among ECHL defensemen.
Branden Komm recorded 44 saves in goal for his fifth victory in his past six starts, and Idaho scored twice in each period to cement the win.
The Steelheads tied the Aces with 41 points in the Mountain Division standings, though the Aces will maintain control of third place.
Idaho and Alaska continue their series Friday and Saturday night. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m.
